jimsjoint – a new beginning

It was crazy. I wasn’t posting a lot on the blog but I was posting. Just last summer, talking about how good the watermelon is and how we are all playing wordle. Posted about being the oldest couple at the Ella Langley concert! Things were going great! Then Kate dropped the bomb. “Hey Dad what wrong with jimsjoint. I check it out and it’s “not found’, dead, kaput. YIKES.

After some panic and research I found out that the company that was hosting the blog had gone out of business. Apparently they were sending emails letting people know this well in advance they had gone to spam folder. Bottom.line is the company did not retain anything. More panic.

But then, the way back machine saved the day. It’s the internet archive of almost everything on the net. It was there. jimsjoint in it’s entirety!!

It’s not so simple bringing a website back from the dead. It’s a multi step process to get it from the way back machine and onto a hosting platform like the good old days. Too much for me so I was going to use a hired gun off of FIVR or some other gig app to do it. Then Kelly said “let me give it a try”. Well sure, give it a try! She used Claude AI to help her with all the steps to get almost 20 plus years of Flaherty family memories back to a live working blog. Great Job Kelly!!

Big learning curve moving forward. Whole new platform to grasp. This is the first real post on WordPress.

And thanks to Kate for keeping the pressure on!
