Happy New Year !

Happy New Year !

We had a great time last night. We partied hardy all night long!  Headed over to the Shull’s house around 7:30. Deb had her house set up real nice. Still decorated wonderfully for Christmas, there was a place set up for karaoke, a poker table set up in the patio room, and of course a full bar and all the finger food you could eat.  All of Al and Debbie’s rowdy friends showed up. Tom and Vicki, Pat and Sue, the McGlinchy’sDsc00268  (Stella and Bob), Dot and Nate (Deb’s Parents), the Alameda’s, Diane, Carrie, Lorenzo and us. A few other Shull friends showed up as well. This was like a Clear Lake reunion. Most of this group had gone to Clear Lake two summers ago for a great vacation together.

This was my kind of crowd. Al and all his buddies are a couple of years older than me. I think they are the High school class of ’68. This is a Sinatra singing,  poker playing, vodka drinking kind of crowd. Plus, the guys all have good looking women on their arm. A great bunch of people to bring in the new year with.   I burned and brought along a CD to have as background and karaoke music. Plenty of Sinatra, plus Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and others. All the songs in my collection that I love to sing along to. I even put “I got you babe” by Sonny and Cher on there in case me and Barb were Dsc00257 going to do a duet. We never did though. Anyway, the CD was a hit. Everybody was singing at one point or another. It was fun. When we were singing “New York, New York”, we had the Rockettes doing their kicks right in the living room!

The poker game was fun too.

Very friendly game of Texas hold’m for $10 or $20 dollar buyin. Debbie had given her dad a poker table for Christmas and it was still at her house. I brought along a nice set of poker chips, so it felt like we were at the World Series of Poker. Bob McGlinchy was kicking butt and was the chip leader for most of the night. I think the guy had 4 full boats ! He also had a pocket pair of 3’s and flopped a couple of more. He was on fire! I got knocked out early. Wasn’t getting the cards and went all in on a short stack and lost. Just couldn’t afford to play with these guys.   Kelly was the only girl at the table surrounded by all us old men. We nicked named Kelly “Annie Duke”, after the only girl (woman) to win a WSOP tournament. Kelly played tough, held her own, but lost it all when she went “all in” against Shull and lost on a 9 high kicker. Brutal!. In the end it was McGlinchy and Shull, head to head for all the dough. After complaining all night about losing some close hands on his home turf, Al goes all in on a huge pot, wins big and ends up the chip leader. Nice work Al.
Dsc00270a Midnight rolled around and we celebrated! WOO HOO !! HAPPY NEW YEAR!! KISS KISS!! Its nice to celebrate and kiss kiss when all the women in the room are good looking! WOO HOO!!
I didn’t take any pictures last night.  Thanks to Kelly and Carrie for taking a few. Check them out here.
We stayed around til 1:30 and decided to call it a night. And what a night it was! Thanks to Al and Deb for a great time!
