Went out on a little lunch time ride today. A brisk ride out to Coyote Hills and up heart attack hill. On the way back I just happen to go over the magic 3000 mile mark on the odometer! That’s San Francisco to Norfolk Virginia folks. I think that I’m averaging about 1000 miles a year on the old Specialized Sequoia. Getting my monies worth and having a great time. Still love the bike!
May the Christmas season bring you blessings through out the New Year.
Merry Christmas from our family to yours.
The MVAL season began this week with American High taking on cross town rival Mission. This was a rare HOME/HOME game, held at AHS. This year, most all games will be played at the new TAK field at WHS.
Kate was in the goal the whole game, had numerous saves while holding the warriors to one goal. She also had some great boots downfield. The Eagles scored once in the first half and once in the second half enroute to a 2-1 victory. YAY!
Been lucky enough to get in a couple of rides over the Christmas break. Definitely winter riding the last couple of times. Cold and blustery. Although on some rides, the ever present headwind out to the bay is reversed. Making for an enjoyable ride out, and a windy ride home.
Went out to Stockton this weekend to visit Staci’s mom and dad (and Staci, and the dogs!) and have a little Christmas get-together. Had a real nice time. Ate some great food, played a few games of Cranium and basically just visited. Spent the rest of the weekend getting ready for the Holidays. Put the finishing touches on the Christmas Lights. Even got in a quick bike ride on Sunday. Barb and I out to Coyote Hills and up Heart Attack. Took this pic of Barb after we had already climbed the hill.
Everyone knows that as you get older, the time goes by faster. Here it is the 2nd of December already, three weeks to Christmas and I still have our ceramic Halloween pumpkin out front. Time to get on it!There was a day when our house would be one of few on the block that would put out Christmas lights. Now, with many new families with young’ins moved in, the street is coming to life this Christmas season. I guess we will spend the weekend getting Christmas ready. To kick off the holiday, I reached back into the archive for a 2003 shot of the family on the front porch. Don’t forget to visit the My Visit with Santa retrospective, where the Flaherty girls grow up before yor eyes.
Here it is , Wednesday the 28th, and a break in the holiday social calendar. Whew!!.. A “downtime day” for me today as Barb returns to work, Kate returns to soccer, and life takes a breather amidst the holiday hustle bustle. Its been a great Christmas season for us. We’ve been everywhere, from Stockton to Felton to Pleasanton to Winters, and Sacramento tomorrow! All to visit friends and family and spread a little Christmas cheer. Our new kitchen has been put to the test these last weeks, making lots of fudge, cookies, and of course our traditional Christmas enchiladas. I think we’ve done about 12 batches of fudge and 6 dozen enchiladas. No wonder my pants are tight!
It was really a nice Christmas. Christmas eve mass at the old St. Leonard’s Church, just like the old days. Then over to the Shull House (the East Bay’s Premier Dining Experience) for a Christmas eve visit. The Lewellyns were there also so it was a nice time with good friends. Then it was home to open gifts and get ready for Santa. Kelly and Kate went the extra mile and got a Santa Picture for us. My favorite present! Christmas day was great. Just hung out at the house, had a nice warm fire, coffees and new slippers. We watched Polar Express and Christmas with the Kranks, ate fudge and drank egg nog. Having the family together in a nice warm house on a cold winters day is the best. We had an afternoon visit from the Altomares then cooked and ate a nice Christmas feast.
Its always nice to see friends and family over the holidays. To all our friends and family that are too far away. Know that we think of you often, in a good way.
Busy little weekend. Started off Friday night with a trip to the Shark Tank to see the Sharks play the Caps. Won four tickets through an employee lottery at work and brought along good friends (and snork’n buddies) Mike and Ann. Sharks won easily. In between periods, we visited with Tim and Linda and Trevor ( Season ticket holders) and a couple of the Kahuna’s brothers who just happen to be at the game. Other than the bad traffic getting to the game, it was a fun time. After the game we went to IHOP for a late night breakfast. The same night Kate was off to her last high school Winter Ball and Kelly was headed to a going away party for one of her friends who was moving to the east coast. Saturday we went to a Christmas party at Marie and Ron’s house in Pleasanton. Lots of great food and drink. Had a great time. Sunday was the day we had planned to make our traditional Christmas enchiladas. I had gone shopping the day before so the four us got to it and made about 6 dozen enchiladas for the Holidays. We even had a batch for dinner last night Yummy Yum Yum Yum. Love weekends like this. Friends, Family, Fun and Food.
