Extreme Rolls on

Extreme Rolls on

I tell ya, those Fremont girls continue to amaze me when it comes to playing soccer. Last night the 5-3-1 Extreme traveled to Danville for another match under the lights against the only team to beat us this year, the 5-1-2 Danville Fury. In our previous match, where we only had 9 players, they came back to beat us 3-2 on a hot afternoon in Fremont. In that match, we went ahead early, then tired out late in the game as they rallied late. Last night however, we actually showed up with a full squad of 11 plus one substitute!!! I didn’t even know we had that many players on the team. The coached mentioned that his job just got harder because now he had to decide who to play. With only two games to go in the season, the stakes were high. The winner would claim sole possession of second place behind the 6-3-0 San Ramon Blue Thunder ,which we play for the first time next week.

What can I say, we WON and WON convincingly!! Final score was 3-1. Kate played another outstanding game in the goal recording several awesome saves. Nothing can be more worrisome for a parent than having your baby in the goal while these girls shoot rockets at her. Time after time she saved, blocked, deflected balls coming her way. Even had a save on a penalty kick!! It should’ve been another shut out but on the Fury’s only goal, it was one of our girls that deflected the ball into the goal for them. Kate almost saved that one too!! Kelly continues to play outstanding offense as a midfielder. She is great at feeding the ball to the forwards who never have to lose stride as they run towards the goal. She is perhaps the smartest player on the team. She knows what to do and when to do it. Its a great team with many great players. We roll into San Ramon next week to take on the first place Blue Thunder. We are also scheduled to play in the Fremont Directors cup at end of the month. We are also signed up to play the state wide Tide Americas Cup at the end of February. These girls can win it all. BRING IT ON!!
